How do Navien’s smart boiler controllers work?

Smart Plus Controller

Navien’s Smart Plus system uses 2-way communication between the wireless communication module (BCM-40RW), and the Navien Smart Plus controller (NRC-10R), operating on an 868 MHz radio frequency (RF) band to control the heating system.

The devices are already paired during an RF pairing procedure so there’s no additional pairing procedure needed to use the devices. They can be installed in all Navien gas combi boilers, system boilers, and oil boilers.

The Smart Plus Controller features the latest in heating technology innovation, including; Smart Forecast, Geofencing and 3-Zone Ready capabilities.

Smart Forecast

Do your customers ever complain about long wait times for their boiler to heat their home? Our Smart Forecasting system is powered by OpenWeatherMap which analyses the weather in the local area to dynamically adapt their homes heating to follow suit and keep them comfortable.

Geofencing

Homeowners can now set a perimeter up to 5km around their home which allows them to switch their boiler on or off, ready for arrival, through their smartphone. This revolutionary technology is just another way in how Navien are providing next-gen heating solutions for our customers.

3-Zone Ready

Navien boilers can be connected to the Smart Plus Controller to give homeowners the power to control up to 3-Zones in their home, all from one central hub with an easy-to-use interface.

Smart Plus ON AI Controller

The Smart Plus ON AI Controller works the same way as the Smart Plus Controller, but with the added power of Navien’s ON AI technology, and is specifically designed to work seamlessly with the NCB ON range, including the NCB500 ON and the NCB700 ON Combi Crossovers.

ON AI technology is our innovative artificial intelligence that offers users features like Smart Diagnostics, ‘HEMS’ to show your usage reports and ‘FOTA’ – All with smartphone compatibility within the ON AI app.

Smart Diagnostics

Smart Diagnosis allows you to check your boiler’s overall operational health at the touch of a button. With this functionality, you can spot potential issues before they fully arise, reducing the risk of you being left without heating.

HEMS (Home Energy Management System)
